Manager of Facilities and Operations

Sportport International (SPI) is the region’s premier, full service, outdoor field sports facility. Located in Maryland Heights, we are looking for a talented individual as the Manager of Facilities and Operations. Great opportunity to be involved in managing the majority of aspects it takes to run a quality sports complex including maintaining one of the most state-of-the-art field hockey fields in the nation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the General Manager in driving guest experience for SPI
  • Holds team accountable to steps of service to deliver great guest service
  • Ensures employees have the tools necessary to complete their jobs
  • Ensures high quality standards are maintained at all times
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with guests, subcontractors, and tenants of SPI
  • Obtains feedback from guests to improve operations
  • Ensures that daily walkthroughs are being conducted throughout the entire park
  • Partners with General Manager in P&L and EBITDAR expectations
  • Achieves assigned budget goals for the facility and concession operations
  • Employs good safety and sanitation practices and ensures that all security, safety and sanitation standards are achieved
  • Follows and enforces responsible alcohol service policies
  • Reviews and evaluates grass and turf field conditions and makes decisions regarding grooming, sweeping, watering, repairs, and maintenance requirements
  • Assigns work to outside grounds crew to prepare fields for scheduled events and practices
  • Performs work to maintain the grounds (tasks to include blowing sidewalks, fields, and parking areas; removal of accumulated litter; bagging and removing trash from outside receptacles and cleaning receptacle lids).
  • Promotes a cooperative work climate, maximizing productivity and morale
  • Interviews, hires, trains and develops team members according to SPI guidelines

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the layout and maintenance of grass and turf fields, according to regulation Field Hockey, Soccer, and Lacrosse guidelines.
  • Knowledge of common sporting event set up and field maintenance expectations
  • Able to schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of others; provide training, interpret policies and explain methods and procedures; inspect and evaluate the work of others.
  • Able to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations and to recognize, secure and report unsafe conditions immediately. Must have knowledge of safe working techniques and safety equipment and must be aware of the safety procedures of the work environment.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with coaches, administration, and internal/external customers.
  • Possess strong leadership practices and techniques
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound problem-solving skills
  • Able to understand and apply SPI policies and procedures
  • Possess a strong customer-service philosophy

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business, Facility Management, Parks and Recreation or other related field
  • 3-4 years of experience in a related field is preferred
  • Flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts: including days, nights, weekends and a few holidays
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to engage the public and have a positive customer service mindset
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to attend to detail, organization, planning, and multi-tasking
  • Possess strong decision-making, problem-solving, and resourcefulness
  • Hold a valid driver license and clean driving record. (Background check will be required)
